A focused timer app for legal professionals who bill in six-minute units.
A focused timer app for six-minute legal billing units.
I built Six Legal Minutes to solve a very specific problem: recording small chunks of legal work quickly and consistently. A lot of legal time recording is done in six-minute increments, and I wanted a tool that made that workflow simple instead of distracting.
The goal was to keep the app minimal and practical so it could be opened, used, and closed in seconds.
I started by defining the shortest possible user flow: start a timer, stop the timer, and log time in six-minute blocks. From there, I designed the interface around speed and clarity, with prominent controls and minimal friction between tasks.
I iterated on the layout to make sure the key actions were obvious at a glance. The app was built to prioritise reliable timing behaviour and easy repeat use throughout the day.
Once the core timer flow worked smoothly, I refined the overall experience and deployed it as a lightweight web app so it could be accessed quickly from a browser.
The result is a focused utility for time-conscious legal professionals. It is intentionally narrow in scope: quick to learn, quick to use, and centred on the six-minute workflow.
